I can only salute USCIS for its decision to set up a special filing location at the California Service Center; sometimes, no matter how you flag an application, the folks in the mail room miss the fact that the application has been properly filed.

From today’s edition of Bender’s Immigration Bulletin… the United States District Court in the Western District of Washington granted mandamus to an applicant for permanent residence after a wait of over three years on his FBI name check. Now, USCIS has 60 days to grant adjustment of status or show why he shouldn’t receive his […]

Along with eight other Boston-area immigration attorneys, I was recently honored by the Irish Immigration Center for Pro Bono service at the Solas Awards Dinner at the Westin Copley. Though I count many of the honorees as my friends, the most humbling aspect for me was the opportunity to share the stage with Eoin […]

Many times, getting the B-1/B-2 Tourist Visa from a US consulate can be an intimidating process. You pay the fee, fill out the forms, and go to the consulate, and wait, and after all your work, the consular officer decides in a few minutes or less whether or not to grant the visa.
A few things […]

Emilio Gonzalez recently testified before Congress about the heavy backlogs in adjudication of naturalization applications… briefly, because of the the heavy fee increase last July, many more people than usual sent in applications for permanent residence and N-400 (citizenship) applications so they could pay the lower fee - leading to projected wait times of, on […]
