New I-9 Form

Most United States citizens don´t think about U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, as the for INS is now called, unless they marry a foreign national. In reality, there is one immigration form that touches the lives of people in the US — employers or employees — when getting a job, and that is the I-9 (updated again to show 6/16/2008 revision, with list of acceptable supporting documents). If you are involved in HR, be sure to use the new form, as USCIS now threatens penalties for failure to do so.

Not to noncitizens: saying that you are citizen or national of the United States on the form can have serious consequences! As employers are obligated to make these forms available for inspection, a misstatement can come back to haunt you…
