After a brief trial period, ICE’s self-deportation project is being abandoned. After a three week run in five cities, only eight people came forward to take advantage of the program.
Why did they think this would work? They didn’t need to favor immigration reform to know this; common sense should have told them that people weren’t going to show up for the privilege of deportation!
